Meet our apprentices!

 When one became three!

Introducing our three newest recruits, our apprenticeship team: Tristan, Theo and Louis.

At CL Electrical Controls we are always keen to attract new talent and to utilise our extensive knowledge to inspire the next generation, so taking on apprentices is a fundamental part of our recruiting process.

A little about each of them:

Theo Ford is 16 and has just left school. He studied for 9 GCSEs and is currently awaiting the results.

Theo’s grandfather works for us and asked if Theo could do some work experience here. Initially it was agreed that Theo could do a week of work experience last August but we were so impressed he stayed all summer, before being offered a full time apprenticeship with us.

Theo has spent his first few weeks learning in our workshop and said hes is looking forward to starting site work later this year. He is an avid gym member and talented young footballer. He has a Bristol City Football Club season ticket so was pleased that we are sponsors!

Tristan Base is also 16 and awaiting his GCSEs results.

Tristan has done a number of work placements with us during the last year and knew he wanted to step straight into the world of work after school.

Tristan said so far he has enjoyed talking to new people, working and being paid for it! He said he is looking forward to learning all aspects of the job and  furthering his experience at college.

Tristan will spend a year in the workshop with our experienced build team before joining our fantastic install team onsite when he turns 17, next year.

He recently gained his moped licence, is a keen footballer, winning players player in his final year in youth football with Yate United and has recently been selected to play for semi-professional team Yate Town in their u18s team.

Louis Edenborough is our oldest apprentice at 17.

Louis left John Williams Academy last summer with 9 GCSEs before taking his A Levels at St Brendan’s College.

Louis contacted us for an apprenticeship before the end of his first year at college and after a successful interview, started with us in March.

He has spent the last few months learning how to build control panels in our workshop.

Louis said he loves the independence working has brought him and he is looking forward to the next stage of learning the role when he also joins our install team later this year.

Louis plays cricket for Brislington as a wicket keeper, is a keen golfer with a very impressive handicap of just 12 and is currently learning to drive.

The trio are currently line-managed by our Production Manager Jamie Ford, he said he was very pleased with the progress they had made so far.

Jamie said, “They all work hard, they ask lots of questions which is super and have slotted in perfectly as part of the team. For us, building the next generation of fantastic electricians and engineers is of paramount importance. And we look forward to seeing them flourish.”
