Early Saturday morning, we were alerted to the news that one of our cabinets had been caught in a collision involving two motor vehicles.
Given that our cabinets are integral to supplying
fibre internet services across Bristol, it was imperative that we worked
swiftly and efficiently to restore connectivity for the city.
Our dedicated engineers
immediately mobilised to our workshop, where we swiftly procured a new cabinet
with the essential components needed.
Our team then joined forces with engineers from Truespeed and the National
Grid at the scene to address the aftermath of the collision.
Through collaborative efforts, the teams secured
the area, removed the damaged cabinet, and seamlessly installed a new two-bay
active fibre cabinet, ensuring uninterrupted service.
The resilience displayed by the teams involved not only salvaged
connectivity but also exemplified the spirit of community and solidarity.
In hindsight, what could have been a crippling blow to connectivity became a testament to resilience, teamwork, and dedication.
Truespeed’s COO said: "This was a catastrophic network outage in the early hours of Saturday morning due to an extremely serious road traffic incident just South of Bristol Airport which wiped out our cabinet completely.
“Fantastic teamwork and, of course tried and tested fast
response processes, meant that Truespeed and its partners were able to respond
extremely quickly to restore services to our affected customers, and it was a
tremendous achievement to have the new cabinet re-established and connected to
power the very same day, affording the opportunity of subsequently reconnecting
customers at pace.
“A huge thank you, and kudos, to CL Electrical Controls who we
are privileged to be partnered with, and, as always, also to the Truespeed team
who relentlessly drive customer service, often in difficult
circumstances,"
We extend our
heartfelt gratitude to our team at CL Electrical Controls for their swift and
out of hours efforts, guaranteeing continued connectivity for our valued
customers.
